ABOUT KATRÈ BY KATRE

There's a particular woman we make for. She carries a lot and does a lot, and somewhere in the middle of all of it, she still wants to feel like herself. Everything we make is for her.

Katrè began with me — Kat. Before it was a brand, Katre was simply what my family called me as a girl. I spent my early years as a stylist, learning what makes a thing beautiful: its line, the way it sits, the small details you feel before you notice them. I trained my eye further in London, at Harvey Nichols, learning how the great houses think about quality — and what makes a piece worth keeping. I loved that city, and you'll find it in our bags, named for the parts of it I loved: Berkeley, Camden, Kensington, Newbury.

Then I became a mother, and motherhood taught me the other half of everything. Beautiful, I learned, is not enough. A bag has to work — through the school run, the meetings, the groceries, the long days that don't slow down for anyone. A stylist makes things beautiful. A mother makes them work. Katrè is where those two things meet.

"A stylist makes things beautiful.
A mother makes them work.
Katrè is where the two meet."

Even our name holds the whole story. Katrè was my childhood nickname; Erro is my husband's surname. Look closely at our mark and you'll see the letters turned and folded into one another — R-E, E-R — the two of us, interlocked.

It has been that way for almost seventeen years.

Although Katrè began with ready-to-wear in 2009, we found our way to leather in Marikina in 2011 where our leather goods story began, and where most of our bags are still made by hand. It is here, in the workshops that have shaped Filipino leatherwork for generations, that our pieces come to life. Our makers are the reason a Katrè feels the way it does in your hand: considered, enduring, and quietly refined. A London-trained eye. Filipino hands.

We don't make bags for a season. We make them to be lived with — carried until they soften and settle into your days — and, one day, handed down. The woman who first taught me what a bag should be was my own mother.

We make ours for the daughters, too.

OUR PRODUCTS

It all starts with a need then it forms into an idea.

From special colors to carefully selected materials to the tiniest of details, the designs all turn into these intentional armor that we would proudly wear every day because not only do they look good they make you feel good.

PERSONALIZATION

Most of the items that you see here can be personalized. You will find a space for a complimentary gift message because gifting is also in our core. You will also notice that placing the Katrè logo front and center is not our top priority because we want your name to stand out.

KATRE 10TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY, NOV 2019

TURNING 10

In 2019, we paused to mark ten years of Katrè. A few bags, a stylist's eye, and a stubborn belief that something beautiful should also be made to last. This film is a thank-you to everyone who carried us there, and a promise to keep making bags worth keeping, and one day, handing down.

WHEN HELLO KITTY MET KATRÈ

“We’re always keen to support the local brand, and Katrè is definitely one of the representatives. Katrè is our first ever bag collaboration in [the] Philippines because we admire their dedication to leather and quality. The craftsmanship and passion makes Katrè a sought-after leather goods brand, and we hope our collaboration will bring excitement to both of our fans.” —Sanrio Wave

ABOUT KAT

Kat is a stylist turned mother turned entrepreneur — and through all three, the same person: someone who basks in the little details, the kind most people feel before they ever notice them.

She studied Personal Styling and Shoemaking in London, learning both how a thing should look and how it's actually built — the line and the last, the eye and the hand. At Harvey Nichols, surrounded by the world's finest handbags and their not-so-finest price tags, an idea took hold that she couldn't shake: that a woman shouldn't have to choose between quality and a fair price — that a beautifully made bag doesn't need a designer markup to be worth keeping. Katrè was born from that conviction.

Today she's back in Manila, building the brand she imagined — with the eye she sharpened abroad and the Filipino craftsmanship she came home to.

A London-trained eye. Filipino hands. It started with her.
